So this morning I spent around three hours in a year two classroom. The classroom teacher was a lovely lady I met who was a substitute for my prac class for a few days. I loved her teaching style and asked if she wouldn’t mind mentoring me during my foray into the wonderful world of teaching. For all my education/teacher followers I would like to share her one of her rewards/behaviour management systems.
Superhero Reward System
Firstly the children start off with peg that has a little picture of their own Superhero on it. When calling role the children each put their peg on the ‘rainbow star’ and throughout the day, depending on individual behaviour, they can shift between the rainbow, faded and white stars. If they are on the rainbow star at the end of the day they get a star out on their Superhero chart. The children are responsible for their charts and they are organised into a filing box for easy access. They can also get a star for fantastic behaviour or helping others (Stars are not given out academically). Once the children reach 10 ticks/stars, they get to be a superhero and wear a cape while they work.
